Morroco

We arrived in Casablanca, Morocco on May 12, 1970 at 0800 hours.

Morocco is on the north side of Africa.  It has a strategic location at the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea and because of the great empires that have occupied the territory:  Carthage, Rome, Berbers, the Moorish Empire, Spain, and France.

During our informational meeting the night before, we were informed that our trips to Marrakech (a winter resort) Rabat, the capital city, and Fez (known for its 1100 year old university) were ALL CANCELLED!!!  There was a civil war going on.

This is looking down a street in Casablanca, Morocco.

Two of my friends aboard ship from Texas, Vicki and Bobby Botts, suggested that since we couldn’t see what we wanted, let’s go to PARIS!!  There was an artist there that stayed at their ranch in Texas to paint horses.  She would let us stay with her a couple day.  I said, “YES!!”

Leaving Morocco for Paris!!!
